1. What you eat affects every part of your life—from your energy level to your resistance to colds—so try to eat fresh, high-quality food, and avoid the rubbish.
2. Always shop for seasonal, local produce. If you buy strawberries from Chile out of season in September, you can’t expect them to be as tasty as the ones from local farmers in June. Make trips to the farmers’ market a family outing. You want kids to learn where food comes from. The more they do, the more likely they are to have adventurous palates.
3. Hide ingredients that kids (and husbands) often dislike, like veggies, in foods they love, like the pasta above. They don’t even need to know the healthy stuff is in there.
4. Learn to make just a handful of recipes. Then experiment with tweaking them to make a dozen different dishes.
5. Sit down and eat with family or friends as often as you can. It really makes a difference in your quality of life.
